For more than 120 years, the SNA (Syndicat des Négociants en Art) has represented, supported, and defended professionals across the art market.
Founded in 1905, the organization now brings together nearly 250 galleries and art dealers. Under the leadership of its President, Mathias Ary Jan, the union entered a new chapter in 2024 by adopting the name Syndicat des Négociants en Art. This change reflects its commitment to representing the full spectrum of the art market—from archaeology to contemporary art—and to strengthening its role as the voice of the profession in France and internationally.
At a time of increasing regulation, evolving customs requirements, and ongoing tax reforms, the SNA works to preserve the competitiveness of the French art market. Its activities are built around three core missions: providing continuous legal and tax monitoring, delivering specialized training (including anti-money laundering and counter-terrorist financing compliance, provenance research, and customs regulations), and supporting members in navigating complex professional challenges.
Beyond its advocacy role, the SNA actively promotes the visibility and vitality of the art market by organizing public conferences and roundtable discussions on the sector's most pressing issues.
The organization also publishes the Journal des Antiquaires et Galeries d'Art, produced in partnership with Le Journal des Arts, featuring market news, professional developments, and coverage of the key events shaping the art world.
In addition, the SNA develops partnerships with leading art fairs and professional organizations in France and abroad.
More than a trade association, the SNA is today a collective force dedicated to defending the interests of galleries and art dealers, reinforcing France's position on the international art market, and supporting the profession as it adapts to an ever-evolving landscape.
