About us

The Carré Rive Gauche is embarking on a new chapter in its history by adopting an ambitious brand strategy. Located in the heart of Paris, between the Louvre Museum, the Musée d’Orsay, and the Saint-Germain-des-Prés district, it is a truly unique place in the world.
Founded in 1977 by the antique dealers Gérard Horwitz, Gérard Lévy, Josette Delvaille, and Philippe Boucaud, the Carré Rive Gauche is a non-profit association under French law (Association loi 1901) that today brings together around sixty antique dealers, gallery owners, designers, publishers, decorators, and renowned experts. The district offers an exceptional artistic diversity spanning the history of art, from Renaissance antiques to contemporary creations, including classical art, Art Deco, modern art, and design. Its scope extends far beyond Western art, also celebrating artistic traditions from around the world: Chinese porcelain, Japanese art, African masks, Islamic art, Pre-Columbian sculptures, and treasures from ancient civilizations.
Both rooted in heritage and oriented toward innovation, the Carré Rive Gauche stands out through the high standards and expertise of its members, who guarantee the authenticity of the works presented. Open to new generations of creators and publishers, it embodies a place of exchange and transmission where tradition and modernity are in constant dialogue. Internationally renowned, the Carré Rive Gauche, thanks to its prestigious location, attracts both French and international audiences — private collectors and professionals alike — all seeking rare pieces across every artistic field and historical period.
