Sylvain Salvarelli is passionate about Art and Japan. A graduate of INALCO (Langues’O), his first stay in Japan dates back to 1990. After many journeys back and forth over the years, he now wishes to share a vision of Japanese art that goes beyond the beaten path.

Shodo Galerie is a gallery dedicated to contemporary Japanese artists. Its initial mission is to showcase calligraphy artists from the Art Shodo movement, acknowledged heirs to Yuichi Inoue and the Bokujinkai collective. Their works go far beyond simple ink strokes on Washi paper, creating spatial compositions in which emptiness is just as important as the line itself, and where the sign frees itself from its original meaning to become the spontaneous expression of a fleeting moment.
