Sylvain Salvarelli, passionate about art and Japan, trained at Langues’O, first traveled to Japan in 1990. After many back-and-forth journeys, he now seeks to share Japanese art that goes off the beaten path.

Shodo Galerie is a gallery dedicated to contemporary Japanese artists. Its initial focus is to exhibit calligraphy artists from the Shodo art movement, acknowledged heirs of Yuichi Inoue and the Bokujinkai collective.

Their works go beyond simple ink strokes on washi paper, composing a spatial representation in which emptiness is as important as the line itself, where the sign is freed from its original meaning to become the spontaneous expression of a moment.
