Co-founded in 1998, initially on the Right Bank in Paris by Vincent Amiaux and his former partner, the gallery originally specialized in French masters from the 1910s to the 1940s before expanding its focus to the full spectrum of 20th-century painting.

Relocated to Carré Rive Gauche in 2012, it moved in 2016 into a larger 100 m² two-level space at 13 Rue des Saints-Pères in the 6th arrondissement of Paris. Since the end of 2023, Vincent Amiaux has been the sole director of Galerie des Modernes.

Vincent Amiaux holds a Master’s degree in Private Law as well as a Master’s degree in Art History. He is a specialist in Cubism and has worked on the oeuvre of Albert Gleizes.

Audrey Mione joined the gallery in 2016 as an assistant. She holds an MBA from ICART, the Institute of Arts and Cultural Management, specializing in Art History, Criticism, and Conservation, with a focus on Modern Art.

The gallery is a member of the Comité Professionnel des Galeries d’Art (CPGA) and the Carré Rive Gauche association. Galerie des Modernes participates in various international art fairs and events, including BRAFA in Brussels.
