Description
Rocaille clock Louis XV period signed JOUARD
This gilded bronze clock with rococo decoration in fine carvings of acanthus leaves and shells appears like a cartel. Raised by four feet, in volute and decorated with shells, it is surmounted by two putti. They sit at the top, one seated, the other standing, holding globe and compass, symbol of the allegory of geometry.
The white enamel dial is decorated with blue enamel Roman numerals for the hours, alternated with small fleur-de-lis in gilded bronze and Arabic numerals for the minutes.
In its center, two beautiful openwork hands in gilded brass are surrounded by the signature of “Jouard à Paris” which can also be found on the rear movement with wire suspension of the balance wheel.
The ringing is done in passing for the hours and half-hours and on demand repeatedly by drawing.
