Description
Cup with polychrome decoration has istoriato majolica Urbino
representing the judgment of Solomon. Inscription on the back « Sotezin
Salamone / doidone gel / 1551 ». 16th century.
The general impression, the composition of the scene, the disposition of
the characters, their expressive treatment recalls the manner of the
painter of Zenobia in Pesaro.
Diameter: 25 cm.
Several pieces reattached and gaps in the pedestal restored.

Braunschweig: Johanna lessmann, Italian Majolica, Catalog of the
Collection, Braunschweig 1979 p. 272, No. 325. It is probably part of a
set and must come from the same workshop as our cut. Their inscriptions
