Description
Transition period chest of drawers stamped by Etienne Avril
Chest of drawers with slight projection in rosewood, amaranth, stained sycamore and boxwood veneers, opening with five drawers in three rows, concealing the crosspieces of the two lower drawers.
The top drawers form a Hungarian point frieze of alternating rosewood and framed respectively with nets of boxwood, tinted sycamore and violet wood.
The right and left decorations of the two lower drawers are flowered and the central decoration represents attributes of love and war, in stained sycamore on a rosewood background with a composition of two doves surmounting two X-shaped quivers and a bow positioned in front a leafy branch. It is framed in stained sycamore, boxwood netting and violet wood.
The sides of the chest of drawers are decorated with an antique vase enriched with ribbons with a frame similar to the front.
Apron decorated with a garland tied on a geometric shape with right angles, in gilded bronze.
The three keyholes in the center form a ribbon tying a garland and the six draw rings represent round garlands, in gilded bronze.
Flanders marble top molded with field grooves, resting on rounded uprights with simulated fluting in boxwood and ebony on an amaranth background. They are topped with stylized foliage falls in gilded bronze and finished with simulated fluted feet decorated with beaded clogs and chiseled rings in gilded bronze.
