Description
Flemish tortoiseshell chest, late 17th century
This rectangular shaped box domed on its top is tortoiseshell veneer in several areas on all sides.
It is framed in ebony and each area of scale is surrounded by an ivory fillet. It reveals an interior with its original silk.
The keyhole and the handle, both in gilded bronze, are represented by stylized shapes.
